Jag in a nutshell
Jag is a graphing application which can be used to create simple 2D plots. No bar charts, 3D graphs, surfaces, maps… Only simple 2D plots! So according to one of UNIX principles it does only one thing, but tries to do it well.
Jag was initially designed for engineers who spend a bunch of time analyzing results of mathematical modeling so that they can get most out of their data. So the main goal was to simplify and speed up graph creation and layout manipulations. Jag can be extremely useful for users who create hundreds or thousands of simple graphs every day and analyze them interactively.
Jag allows to create pretty nice plots and to customize them in great detail in a few seconds. See getting started.
Jag features
- Fast and handy plot manipulations.
- Convenient graphical user interface.
- Base mathematical functions, including signal processing functions (fft, power spectrum, etc.), that can be applied to the graphs .
- Support of creation custom plot styles with the desired background color, labels fonts, grid properties, etc.
- Export to the main raster image formats.
- Built-in filtering capabilities.
Extensions
Number of supported data formats can be extended with custom plugins. See extensions.
